Club Competition Rules

  1. All games to be played under Bowls England Rules.
  2. All games must be played by the specified date. The Competition Secretary MAY give an extension in exceptional circumstances. PLEASE TRY TO PLAY GAMES AS SOON AS POSSIBLE TO PREVENT CONGESTION LATER ON.
  3. The challenger (“top” name) is to arrange the fixture date/time/marker (for singles) and must enter the details in the Club Diary.
  4. The challenged (“bottom” name) player will draw for rink.
  5. At the toss of a coin the challenger will call for the choice of first jack.
  6. Club dress code will be followed for all games, the finals being played in Club shirts andblue trousers/shorts/skirt.
  7. Triples Day is 17th May with the final played on the same day.
  8. All other finals will be played over the finals weekend of 28th, 29th & 30th August.
  9. Please do not enter competitions if you know you would not be available for the final.
  10. The Bill Goodman is a mixed singles competition for bowlers who have never won a singles competition at any club.
  11. The decision of the Competition Committee (Competition Sec, Captain and Lady Captain) is final.

101 Singles Knock-out

  1. The competition will be played as a normal 4-wood singles.The player holding shot in an end will have the mat in the next end, regardless of points scored.
  2. The winner will be the first to 101 points.
  3. Points will be awarded as follows:
          Shot wood                 4 Points
          2nd wood                  3 Points
          3rd wood                   2 Points 
          4th wood                   1 Point          
  4. In the event of a tied shot, both woods will be ignored and next shots counted for scoring purposes.         
  5. In the event of a close finish, ends must be fully scored. If both players reach the same score above 101, additional ends must be played and fully scored until there is a winner.
