Results and News - 24th June

We are now in the busy part of the season with games coming thick and fast.

Two weekends ago, we entertained Wolverton Park in a home friendly, losing by 88-80 and then visited Woburn Sands for an away friendly, winning by 71-55. Last weekend, we had two more friendlies. On Saturday, we visted Brackley and secured a 67-59 victory. On Sunday, we entertained Aston Clinton and secured another victory by 89-55.

There were three midweek matches this week, a Ladies friendly against Banbury Borough, a Men's Bucks Cup game against Bletchley Town and a Ladies' Trundell game against Bletchley St Martins. Unfortunately all three games ended in defeats for our teams and our Men did not qualify for the knockout phase of the Bucks Cup.

The Green has also been busy with club competition matches as the various completion deadlines approach. Please check the notice board or the website and schedule your next round matches as soon as possible.

The Ray Keen League starts this week. All the matches are played on Wednesday Evenings and the season runs until the end of August. The Cohorts and the Gladiators open their campaigns at home, while the Centurions and the Praetorians have away fixtures.

Finally, the Friday Night Triples competition reaches its half way point this Friday. Team G have opened up a 5 point lead at the top of the table while the other teams are closely bunched behind them but there is still everything to play for.

Am I alone in thinking that calling our FNT teams, Team A, Team B etc. is a bit dull and unimaginative? My suggestion would be to name them after Flowers, Fruit and Veg. After all the Green was originally owned by a Florist, Fruiterer and Greengrocer. Any other suggestions?
