The Gladiators Triumph

Our four Ray Keen League Teams played in a Knockout Challenge on Thursday Evening. The conditions were far from ideal with a cold wind and several heavy rain showers.

In the qualifying round, the Gladiators started strongly and easily beat the Centurions 11-2. The other game between the Cohorts and the Praetorians was much closer and ended as an 8-8 tie after 9 ends. The Cohorts won the extra end and progressed to the final.

In the final, the Gladiators continued their good form and beat the Cohorts 13-10.

The 3rd place match was very close with the Centurions picking up 2 points in the final end to beat the Praetorians 6-5.

Congratulations to the Gladiators on their triumph and huge thanks to Geoff and Steph who prepared an excellent post-match dinner.

Everybody enjoyed the evening and there was talk of repeating it next year. One suggestion was that we play the games on on Midsummer Day, when hopefully the conditions will be better. Another suggestion was to make the winning team play in togas.
